The Importance of Saving and Sacrificing

One of the most important things we can do when it comes to fulfilling our financial stewardship is to learn how to save and sacrifice to purchase things that are of worth to us, and to do so avoiding debt at all costs. It can be hard, especially at first to sacrifice wants of the present to save for something in the future, but the wait is always worth it. I met a man on my mission who had moved from Mexico to America to start a new life. He learned the importance of saving and sacrificing and he built a good and comfortable life for himself here. He taught me that his trick to saving money is that any time he wants to buy something, he saves enough to buy two and then buys the one that he wants. This way he learned patience and to sacrifice for the things that he really needed and wanted. What a great example that is! Although it is hard, it is important to make and stick to a budget and avoid debt so that we can remain free and able to help others. This is how we can fulfill our financial stewardship while we are on this earth.
