Last weekend I rewatched the movie Crazy Rich Asians. It is such a cute movie and I really love it! One thing that I thought of was in the first couple scenes of the movie a girl spots the main couple at a restaurant and then the film goes into a montage kind of thing about news getting around that Nick Young has a girlfriend. The news reaches all the way to Nick's mother in Singapore while she is in a Bible study group. She calls Nick when she finds out and Nick is still sitting at the same restaurant with his girlfriend, only a few moments had passed! This really reminded me of how the world we live in is one that revolves around instant gratification. How many times have I googled something and given up on finding the answer if it is not on the first page of results, or decided to go out to eat instead of cooking because I am not patient enough to cook something on my own. This was a good little wake up call for me to take time to slow down and think about how I am living my life. Am I taking advantage of all life has to offer or am I focussed on gratifying my immediate needs?
You bring up such a good point! I think I've become a lot less patient with the instant gratification we have today. By the way, love that movie too!
ReplyDeleteI love this movie! You bring up a really good point about instant knowledge and gratification. I feel like in certain situations I have a lot less patience, and I need to work on that and remember that technology and people cannot be extremely fast and efficient every moment!
